This video showed us the changes technology was created for us to research data. It was become so much easier and faster for us to research data with the internet these days. What it was done is created an outburst of information we can grasp in little to no time at all. The bad thing about this is what if their is a failure with our technology, where do we go for research now? books is the answer. Library's have always been a place to research vast amount of information, it just takes much longer. But its always their, never a failure with technology. Whats comprehensive about that is we dont need computers for our research, we can use books! While it seems old fashion and a little time consuming, it works.
I say technology is bad in the sense that it can be a failure. What i mean about that is that technology can always fail to. For example last week when wikipedia went down and we had to post pone our writing, and some even had to rewrite their papers. Technology can be over rated in some aspects.some may believe it is the way, others just like to be old fashion. I can say this most of the time technology is an advantage, but thats not always one hundred percent.
I believe this video was directed towards college students again. Most of the time you see college students as the researchers anyway. thats what the video was about. It was showing us how research is changing. I do think it has changed very much over the years.
Ethos is the persuasive appeal of ones character. The character presented in this video deals with the professors and the students of college life. The problems are technology vs. old fashion research. Most people would argue technology as a solution to todays research.
Logos is a rhetorically stance that refers to getting an argument across using communication and reason to an audience. The argument presented in this video dealt with technology. Is it the way or is it not. I would argue that it helps immensely but is not necessary. The reason was shown through actual signs in the video. The research done from welsh and actual peoples experiences, so the reasons seem very realistic.
Pathos is the quality or power or other forms of expression that evoke pity or compassion. Pathos is shown through the welsh's video by the sighing of the students while holding up their signs. They don't look too enthusiastic as shown in the video. The tone or feeling of the video more serious also a little depressing. It wasn't exactly a fun home made video to say the least. the video had to be set up this way on purpose. Maybe its showing a negative side to the higher education system. Maybe welsh expected more in the education system rather then the sad statistics we got in the video of a regular full time college student.
One of the greatest problems that this college is facing is the size of the class's. This year mizzou had so many poeple registered that they stopped accepting applications. The freshman class is one of the largest we've had. This is going to be good for the college because they are going to get alot of money but it brings up a problem, class sizes. Their is probabaly going to be one hundred people in a class room give or take. It more grading the teacher must do and harder to get to know the students. For the professors it might be a little tricking, but im sure some are used to it by now. Where as moberly community college has probably a class room size of thirty to forty.
Another problem this campass faces this year is dorm room availability. This year we've had to expand the dorm to some apartments, at compass lodge and campass view in columbia for mizzou. This brings up the problem of not being close to the campass through your first semester in college. Freshman are forced to live two to three miles off campass simply becuase theirs no more room in the dorms.
Our campass faces a promblem with alcohol. It is easy to sneak in some alcohol into our dorms and drink. Even more so just show up drunk and pass out. Especially around greek town. This campass has thrown alot of partys and some proceed with alcohol. This shouldn't be tolerated but sadly is on our campass. Drugs too can be a problem, such as weed, but this is a problem that can be regulated if monitored correctly. Drug and aclohol abuse on our campass has to be one of our biggest problems, and can not be tolerated simply for the better environment of our peers trying to learn and better themselves.
