why is it thought that technology can save us? i think the video was a great job of the exploration into college students life. i think it showed us how they learn and trying to give us an answer to a better way of learning. i do not necessary think technology is the answer to help educate our students, but i do believe it will help.some technology is a distraction.
the video is directed towards incoming students. students of college age and not knowing what they are getting into yet. i would argue so because the comments are directed towards people who don't know what college is like, the documentary is the life of a student full time.the videos resources are very reliable that is because the statistics are coming straight from college students experiences. the author is wondering what is going on with students these days. he probably sees technology as a distraction too.people using their laptops during class and not even working on the in class stuff. i do believe technology can help us with the learning process in a way. visualizations and images can help put things into perspective. short clips are a good learning aid,but not necessary. i beleive lectures are necessary in todays learning environment. i think the video is also talking about having personal problems. we all come together for class for a reason which is to learn but leave with different problems. the video is scientific data from personal experiences. i don't necessarily think technology is the answer, and it does distract us. it can distract us from the earning environment we came here to indulge in.
the video made comments like this laptop cost more than some salary's a year. i do believe our rights and privileges are greater than that of a third world country. to have had the privelidges for a higher education is a great thing. to be culturally competent is what higher education does. to have culturally literacy is to possess basic reading and writing skills. it is of the arts and manners a group favors and to be literate in these terms. to have cultural competency means to have the knowledge, skills and experiences or the quality or state of being mentally competent. if you can obtain both then it would be a great achievement. to become well educated i would say technology does help a little. t.v.'s and movie clips does help rather then straight textbooks all the time. technology does create a distraction still for example mp3 players and laptops in the classroom. again i don't believe technology is the answer but it can help us to become culturally literate or help with class.
i think its a problem that we are preparing students with jobs that don't even exist yet. it seems like their is no real promise their is a job for you right after college. the video compares to my life experience because i have used technology in the classroom the last twelve years. so i can say it definably helps but is not necessary. i too have to work and go to school full time and it gets stressful at times. in the video the guy only has to work two hours a day were i work six hours every time i work.today class tuition is a problem to that everyone faces. their are some lucky one like in the video where their parents help pay. but for the most part college tuition is at a high cost and not going down. i think it increasing very much so. todays average semester might cost from nine thousand to eleven thousand. the problem seems to be will it be worth it in the long run. i think it is but others just don't want to bother.also more and more people seem to want to come each year. this year we have alot of incoming freshman and are now facing the problem of not accepting any more applications. classes will be full fall semester and this town will see alot of college students this upcoming year. so another problem we face is classroom sizes. colleges vary from size to size. mizzou will probably have about one hundred or more in an average class where as moberly might have thirty in a class room.
this paper talked about what it means to have cultural competent and literacy. i also talked about the video in great detail. to me it seems like from the video that we can conclude technology can be distracting in some sense but it can also help in another. their are also many problems we face as the up coming generation in college that im sure the last generation has faced too.
