Response to Chapter 5
From Mizzou Wiki
Chapter 5 relates to chapter 1 and 3 significantly. It relates to those chapters by clarity and audience. this chapter shows how the clarity of a writing and that depends on the audience a writer is writing for. A writer must be able to create a pater that flows together and as one. Many writers try to say a message by clouding the paper, but instead of explaining the message, it makes it harder to understand. If a sentence is to active, than the audience wouldn't want to read it. The audience prefers a more passive writing without choppy clutter. We would want to see the flow and follow the writing easily. It's surprising to see how the adjustment of a few words placement can effect the coherence by so much. Many writers overestimate their readers and their knowledge. They must be able to start their sentences with something familiar to us, as readers. Writers become so familiar with their own writing that they happen to forget about the audiences' understanding of their own subject. As a reader, I prefer to read a writing that i feel comfortable with and wont have a trouble reading, but many writers don't take that in account which may result in failing their writing. When a writer understands the meaning of being cohesive to their audience, they have created a first step to success. If they create coherence, they have summed up their writing and have successfully displayed their message to their audience. If writers have mastered coherence, than there isn't much more to master to make their audience happy with their writing.
