Weekly Assignment #2
What did the Greeks think about the way their various gods and goddesses got along with each other? Is there a clear hierarchy among them? What mechanisms do they use to settle differences that arise? Be sure to cite examples, especially from your readings for the week of Feb. 11. You must write this short paper without using the verb "to be" in any form.
Weekly Assignment #1:
Visit the Museum of Art and Archaeology (in Pickard Hall; see http://maa.missouri.edu/ for hours). Find an object that relates to Classical Mythology in some way, and then (1) Describe the object (or painting or sculpture) -- that is, what are its physical characteristics? Be as specific as possible. (2) Discuss what interests or intrigues you about the object. Your comments could be related to the form or use of the object (for example, a drinking cup or a funerary monument), to the production of it (what technology did they use?), and/or to the mythical content. You need not have answers to all the questions about the object that intrigue or interest you!
