Here’s a suggested timeline for your semester. Use it to help you plan your project, as well as to gage your progress.
September 18th: You should have some ideas what you want to write about. Use your early fieldnotes as an inventive site for ideas. Research might be experimental, scattered across different subjects, or still unfocused.
September 25th: Think about some possible media that would best fit your topic.
October 4th: Finish formal research proposal. Begin serious research on your project. Time to focus.
October 9th: Set up any person-to-person research or fieldwork you want to do. Arrange interviews, visits, film time, etc.
October 16th: Begin sketching out the narrative of your project. What will it look like?
October 23rd: Design proposal and storyboard due.
November 6th: Write your project–i.e put it together.
November 15th: Full draft due.
