Cellular phones have become one of the most popular demands as far as means of communication go. One would think that usually you would use a cellular phone to place and receive phone calls, however the most popular cell phone function today is text messaging. Although texting can be very convenient, one may find themselves questioning whether the message was interpreted correctly. When viewing a text message the tone of voice can be unclear and that can present a problem. Recently I received a lengthy text message from a friend in which questioned and presented me with disturbing information. I was unsure if the tone was aggressive or just informal. This made it hard for me to come up with a response to the text message. I eventually had to conclude what I believed was meant by the text message; whether my friend was upset about the situation, meant it in a jokingly manner, or just was informing me that she knew such information. Sadly I assumed she was upset about a situation and was confronting me with it in an ignorant way, which was a false assumption. I decided to be ignorant back and not respond to the text as well as ignore her presence whenever she was around. My friend and I went one week without speaking for no exact reason as a result of one text message.

Most of us, if not everyone are aware that many changes within a Christian church have taken place as time moved forth. Above all of these changes I believe the distinction between the roles of men and women leaders (ministers/preachers/pastors etc.) within the church have changed the most. To be specific the way things were done in the 1900’s up until now differ on numerous levels when it comes to what women weren’t and were allowed to do. In the 1900s the pastor or minister (and so on) were male, but now you see male and female. It has been thought and stated that women were to submit to males and simply compliment their leadership. Now women today are taking the right to lead at the church.

Previously a mass email was sent out to the students at Mizzou in regards to the financial recession the nation is facing. President, Gary D. Forsee addressed how this catastrophe has not affected the Universities income and how the students will continue to receive the benefits (loans, scholarships, jobs etc.) that they are now. However, he did mention how although these benefits remain education is the number one priority. I feel that that one statement means a lot. Our studies should be our number one priority because in order for us to succeed in the future financially we need to gain skills through education. Soon without an education it will be even harder to find well paying jobs and create a good lifestyle. Without a college degree your future will be at stake.

Everyone is aware that the presidential election will be approaching very soon. As a result of this I have gotten text messages, facebook messages, phone calls etc. All of the messages and calls have been about how important it is that you remember to NOT wear any sort of clothing/accessories that advertises the candidates, especially Obama. It is said that doing such is illegal. However what I fail to understand is why is this issue now all of sudden being stressed so hard because an African American is running? Discussing politics is a sensitive subject in all cases but honestly I am aware that wearing such representing Obama is being stressed because this election will be different for America. I feel that race should not be overshadowing the fact we will have a new president. Instead America needs to focus on “what” is best for the nation and not “who” looks best for the nation.

Everyone knows that many college students spend their past times on Facebook and I happen to be one of those students. For a couple of days now I have read my friends status and observed that more than 50% of them are dissatisfied with the websites change of format. I personally feel that the new design is very complicated and sloppy, however in the back of my mind I ask myself, do I feel this way just because its not the “usual”? Just like myself many facebook members feel that this change has complicated everything, but in reality its exactly the same. The same functions are still available, the same features are provided, but instead the design is different. I have concluded that in actuality the change is not bad, but the unwillingness to cope is. This is a problem that we face everyday. When something is out of the ordinary for us we immediately panic or feel uncomfortable instead of considering it as a chance to learn or a fresh start.

I recently read an article in Seventeen Magazine on how seventeen high school girls in Glouchester, MA made a pregnancy pact. The pact was one that which each of the 17 girls got pregnant around the same time so they could raise their babies together and around the same time. The biggest reasoning for doing so was so that they would always have someone around who loved them unconditionally. The author argues why couldn’t the girls make a pact to love each other? To help support her argument she blames the media. Media glamorizes and makes the readers believe that pregnancy is a good thing. The author assumes that these girls have obviously experienced hard times and feel that no one is there for them. The author also suggests that “girls” in general need to help eachother difficult times instead of making the situation more complex. I completely agree with the author on this issue and I also blame the media as to why iss pregnancy broadcasted in teen magazines?

Hello Everyone. I am a member of the Facebooking network and one day after logging in under my user name I noticed that a note had been written by a young lady (who’s name shall remain anonymous). The note was titled “Put yo ass on front street n call it a day!” This note was about how she and her old best friend’s friendship had fallen apart. In this note she basically exposed how scandalous, scary, and fake her old best friend was. The note consisted of very vulgar language and hurtful thoughts. I believe that the authors main objective was to humiliate the old best friend. Her objective was fulfilled because the feedback that others provided to the note encouraged her thoughts as well as encouraged more conflict. There was over 163 responses to the note as well as retaliation from the old best friend. I have concluded that Facebook has become more than a source for keeping in touch with your peers but is also a site to cause conflict. The young lady could have easily either kept her feelings to herself or tried talking to the old best friend about how she felt. Instead she resorted to Facebook and caused conflict for many.
