The cars of the future are here now

Posted in Uncategorized on December 5th, 2008

http://www.cnn.com/2008/TECH/science/12/03/future.car/index.html#cnnSTCText   This was a very good article.  The future is awesome to think about when it actually comes.  Saying that the future is here means that the future is here in the present time.  With gas prices always increasing and decreasing, these hydrogen fueled cars seem so much more effecient and less costly for driving.  No bias in this article, only talking about the  facts about these new cars. Technology is always changing and that is why it is so amazing and hard to follow sometimes.  Cnn is one of the more reliable news places to find decent articles that are also enjoyable to read.

Agriculture goes urban and high-tech

http://www.cnn.com/2008/TECH/science/11/21/urban.agriculture.ap/index.html

This was a good read.  Well-written and highly informative, this article has what all articles should have in them.  The topic being talked about is interesting which pulls readers in if the text is engaging and informative, which is what this text is.  No bias in this article, and no main argument.  Only facts and text about hydroponics and growing plants this way.  I enjoyed reading this article very much.  I could compare it to pouring a freshly opened beer into a frosted mug of which I would soon enjoy and taste.

Gears of War 2

http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/926/926305p1.html This is a game review for the xbox 360.  I can say for a fact that based on these reviews without even playing a game for myself I can go buy it and enjoy it.  The writers of these reviews play the game for themselves and talk about every good and bad aspect about it.  Even if it’s rated high, they still will say what is bad about the game.  Writing a review can be an easy process, or a thorough process of analysis.  This particular game got a 9.5 out of 10.  This is pretty high for IGN reviews, which to me is the best game review site on the Internet.  I actually just picked this game up yesterday after reading this fantastic review and I love the game.  It just goes to show you how much a personal opinion can sway your own decision.

Honda unveils wearable robotic walker

Posted in Uncategorized on November 7th, 2008

http://www.cnn.com/2008/TECH/11/07/robotic.walker.ap/index.html Our world is always changing.  Technology is not what it used to be at all, it is constantly evolving and getting more in depth.  A robotic walker is an awesome idea for disabled people.  I think it’s cool that Honda, a car manufacturing company, is creating a developing something like this.  This article was very interesting, as all tech articles, but something about it caught my eye.  Creative ideas like this catch my eye and interest me.  We are developing tools to help people of lesser fortune, which is awesome.  Starting the article off with an imagine this…..helps create the thought of how cool it would be for that product or idea to be an actual thing.  Very good article.

Review: Apple’s new Nano is its best yet

Posted in Uncategorized on October 29th, 2008

http://www.cnn.com/2008/TECH/ptech/10/01/review.nano/index.html

CNET is one of my favorite, if not the best, review site out there in regards to technology.  I have looked up almost every product I was going to buy before hand on this site to see what rating they gave it.  The user reviews are also helpful because they are just normal people like me reviewing the product also.  These reviews are always well written and very informative.  They go over features, design, usability, etc. in an easy to read, but informative context.  I never get sick of reading reviews from this site because you learn so much and can make a buying opinion based on these reviews.  The people that write these reviews can be biased sometimes because it is there opinions on what they think about of the features, etc., but i think for the most part they are dead on.  These opinions they have could hold true to your opinions on the product if you agree with them.   Good review overall.

Even AT&T Is Startled by Cost of iPhone Partnership

Posted in Uncategorized on October 23rd, 2008

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/10/23/technology/companies/23phone.html?em  I really enjoyed reading this article.  Anything I read about technology is enjoyable because I was raised in the “age of technology” one could say.  Since the iphone came out it seems that’s all people could talk about when it came to cell phones.  Soon enough everyone had one of these apple phones.  The only provider you can have and use an iphone with is AT&T.  As some of you may know, apple is very smart with their products.  As they release one version, they are already making another version with more features, etc.  so that when they release they know people will crave it and buy the newer version.  Apple products have always been expensive so they are making a lot of money as you probably could assume.  AT&T, as this article states, is paying a fortune to carry the iphone, but is still making profit.  They are just worried about the next quarter of sales.  The wording of this article was good, and I feel like the NY times always has close to the best articles to read.  Not a whole lot else to say about this one.

Ghost hearts: Reanimating lifeless organs brings new hope

Posted in Uncategorized on October 15th, 2008

http://www.cnn.com/2008/HEALTH/10/13/eod.ghost.heart/index.htmlThis was a very interesting article.  This article just shows the advance and power of technology and science that increases everyday.  This read kept me focused on text and pulled me in.  The wording was perfect and it made me want to read more and more.  It is always true that things that you find interesting to read are things you always retain better and gain more out of.  So based off only the title I can determine if this article was going to be interesting enough to keep my attention, and it was.  At the end of the article it talks about what Doris Taylor, a cardiac researcher, expects to have in the next few years and about what they already have accomplished.  Another very enjoyable article!

The Scan That Didn’t Scan

Posted in Uncategorized on October 14th, 2008

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/10/14/health/14scan.html?ref=health This was a very good article.  It started with a personal story to relate to the theme of the entire article and then led on to talk about a similar story of a colleague for emphasis.  The format then leads to talking to doctors and radiologists about why these differences can occur in MRI scans and why certain things weren’t found the first time.  Gina did a good job in not becoming too biased based on her own experience and told the article well.  She wrapped it up with a good conclusion and a summary of why we can’t rely to much on imaging to show problems that we have with our body.  The wording was good, the format was good, and overall a very enjoyable piece to read.

Letterman keeps up verbal assault on McCain

I think this is a pretty good article overall.  It is a little short, but definitely hits its point well.  There are a lot of quotes in this article because it helps understanding of just how Letterman did verbally assault McCain.  This article is unbiased because he only quotes Letterman and keeps from throwing his own view and opinion in his writing.  This is probably a good thing because some would laugh at what Letterman says, and some wouldn’t.  I enjoyed reading this article.

It’s a “unique” season, all right By: Jeff Gordon

This was a good column in the sports section I thought.  Jeff Gordon always seems to get to the point and lay it out pretty simple.  I thought it was written in a easy to read format and that all the quotes he used were placed very well.  As for the whole theme of the story, well, the Rams basically are a laughing stock right now and the bottom line is if they can’t beat the Seahawks then they can’t beat anyone.  Jeff says it himself that if this doesn’t prod the Rams into a spirited performance, then nothing will.   Not to even bash on the Rams, but come on, please win some games for the sake of the good old STL.  Anyways, I thought overall this piece was very well written and dynamic, but yet simple to understand the basic point trying to be made.
