Ive read a newspaper ever since i was in 6th grade and have noticed over the years how different one newspaper handles a certain story to another. Writers of newspapers are as different as anythin you will ever see. I read the Tribune and recently the Maneater newspaper. When i read both of these newspapers i see many differences. One being that the writers of the Tribune are hugely leftist. The maneater does a good job of being unbiased. Tribune i think needs to change this tactic, as it had turned me off to it

“Bill Parcels and Jeff Ireland took teh safest route in tehe draft with the selection of Jake Long,”
When doing research on the NFL draft, i’ve noticed a term that has been used a lot throughout most of my research articles, and that is “A Safe Pick”. The refer to this as a way to take a player off so no one else can take and make a “steal” later on in the draft. I found this strange that teams would do that, but also made me think that there is good reason to it. Preventing a team from fully filling out their needs is a great way to have an edge. You may not bolster you teams needs, but you cripple that of the other teams. As long as you have more spots filled up with talented players than they do, then I think you are doing something right.

When you read certain ads or signs, do you ever notice that many share a common color. Color can a be a very good way to express what you want without using words. Take the most common one for instance, Mcdonalds. Mcdonalds used the colors red and yellow. These are proven to provoke hunger, hence leading the ones reading the signs to come eat there. Its very interesting how things like that work. Red is vibrant and out there. Colors can do even more than words can, but function better if there is harmony withen the sign. Thats the key. Colors are used for advertisers, and is more important than many believe

I was reading a gamer magazine the other day. I was reading a review about a game called NBA 2k9 for the Xbox 360. Ive noticed that the language is written with the intent that you will buy this game….no matter how bad a rating the game gets. It bothers me when I look to these people for an honest review. Videogames are not cheap, and I’m not a wealthy person. I need to know what games are good and what games arn’t. Reviewers are suppose to be unbiased and tell me if a game is worth buying or not. I hope people see the same thing I do and is bothered by it too

In class, my teacher has talked to us about writing our first paper. He mentioned to us that grammer is not the most important thing that should be paid attention to. This startled me just because in highschool, grammer was of the upmost importance…. I was taught that your ideas can not be fully interperated without useing proper grammer. This to me is a little far fetched. Grammer should not be the things to consentrate on the most.
Rules for grammer has changed so much in the past decade and continue to change today. What will happen with English Grammer…guess we will have to wait and see

When walking around campus you notice different signs around many streets and buildings of the campus. What really interests me is the choice of words. These signs use language that to me the creators wanted to appeal to a younger audience such as myself. For example I saw a sign of powerade. The slogan read “Break out” and a picture of varies sports superstars doing things associated with their sport. I was complexed on why they would use words like that, it doesnt make much sence. Regardless I love the stuff , so I wont worry

Today on T.V, its impossible to avoid ads. They are all different in their own ways but have a lot of similar characteristics to them. They both like to use big vibrant letter varients. Their language is simple but persuasive. They use catchy words or phrases so people will remember them. One that comes to mind is the Mercinaries 2 ad. They use a catchy song to draw the custormer in. This language is simple yet intiguing to the listener and its just interesting how much time and work is put into these many ads
