final blog

November 21st, 2008 by Chris Masters

My final blog will be from the article in the columbia tribune.

Myspace hoax case. in this article the author is going over a case in which someone made a fake myspace and emailed a young girl who happened to be depressed and suicidal and ended up killing herself. the main part of the article is the discussion of wether or not a second peron was involved in sending the mean emails to this young girl. the author also continues to talk about what she could get convicted for and how it could be the first case of cyberbullying. my main question is why wasnt the author more discriptive when discussing the emails and so on? The only answer i can think of is that the author was just doing the best he could to keep on topic with the second person questioned about being there when the emails were written. Also i think that he thought that information in the emails themselves was of less importance than wether or not this person was involved. I think this is a good thing because if there was something that ould be used as evidence in court or something like that it didnt need to be leaked to the public.

Freedom within the lies of Graffiti

October 31st, 2008 by Chris Masters

Within graffiti there is a endless amount of freedom. Freedoms of life choices, expression, your own person, from the sterotypes of who and what a graffiti writer is. The words alone are freedom let alone you are the person you want to be and write what you feel.

so moving away from written pieces to now  film/tv. online at pspevents.com you can watch this years paintball world cup online for free and it is anounced by ex pro players from all around the world. through out the first matches he was rather quiet cool and collected compared to the nature of the sport where it is face paced in your face action. think of it this way if it was a football announcer that when someone had a large gain would say it as if he was just talking to one of his friends. my question is why would he announce in such a manner when it is not fitting to the game? I believe he is trying to slowly ease the audience into what is paintball. like moms and kids that have never seen a pro match wouldn understand what is going on when he would start talking about run throughs and bunker moves.

the grass is greener ( and gold)rus baer tribune  This article comes to heart because it s a story about my old highschool. this article is about Jarred henry a aspiring highschool football player that has just transfered cross town to rockbridge high instead of staying at Hickman to follow in his brothers footsteps and hopefully play in college and possibly the nfl. In the article it is discussed about his transfer and his playing time but my question was towards the end of the article the writer goes from writing about what the story is really about to the kids father and pickup games of bball while he was here at the university. my question is why would he do that? my answer for that personally i am having to assume he meant to get more into the kids family but i rreally think that it was entirely useless to the article .

eric carpenter ocr. through this article eric is describing a new way to fight graffiti and tagging in general. The Sheriff’s Department’s system, called Tracking Automated Graffiti Reporting System, or TAGRS, uses cell phones equipped with cameras and global-positioning devices to document and track graffiti. They claim that it has a large affect on the graffiti community and is stopping many of the taggings. my question is why would the police department call their system tagrs that is just a some what abreviated word for the act in which they are trying to stop . My answer to this is that they must be thinking that it will because of its name be seen asa  target to all the taggers and they will stop but still this idea. on the way of the writing through out the article the writer just is bland and is saying only what teh police have stated he takes no opinion on the matter. i believe this is because it in fact is a article about the state department.

Lyndsie Manusos Maneater 9/9/08to start I have to admit i am kinda bias because the article is about the mizzou paintball team which i am in charge of. in this article lyndsie talks about the mizzou paintballs team tryouts and first practice this season. She gathers good information from players about what is happening at practice and trys to help the reader understand the sport. My question is that why when she wrote this did she decided to switch around between all these different topics that the three players talked about from playing national events to talking about cost and brotherhood? what I see she did was she wrote that way becasue she along with wanting the reader to learn about the sport she also wanted to let people “meet the men under the mask” and kinda learn about us.

Playing God, the Home Game.new york times 9/5/08by  Seth Schiesel In this article Mr. Schiesel met up with Mr. Wright the creator of the sims and sim city to discuss his new game Spore. The question I had when reading  was why dose he keep reiterating that the game was just that a game and not a toy. The reason I can see he did that is so he could make people understand that when you play this game you will not become bored with it. As opposed to like his  example a  toy soldier, that is all it is and it will ever be but with this game he had to convey the complexity of it because in fact you can be, do anything in Spore.
