The Rhetoric and Composition Program is integral to a department that focuses on writing as the common ground of studies in literature, creative writing, and rhetoric, and to a university that makes writing across the curriculum a priority. Faculty publish widely in the areas of writing in the disciplines, transnational feminist studies, critical theory, new media, affect, rhetoric and space, visual culture, and critical histories and theories of rhetoric and composition.
The Rhetoric and Composition Program and the English Department will sponsor two workshops by Dr. Eli Goldblatt, Associate Professor of English at Temple University, on April 28.
9:30 AM -11:00 AM: Community Literacy and Teaching
1:00 PM - 3:00 PM: Bridging the Gap Between Creative Writing and Composition
The workshops will be in Cornell 004.
The English Department invites applications for the Gus Reid Fellowship for excellence in teaching expository and persuasive writing. The award covers the academic year 2007-2008 teaching of writing in any of the composition courses the department offers. Thanks to the generous contribution of Mrs. Augusta Reid and Dr. Loren Reid, two $1,000 awards will be granted this year. Graduate student instructors are encouraged to submit materials that reflect their innovative, productive, and excellent teaching.
To apply for consideration, submit the following materials as a portfolio to Dr. Jeff Rice.

Decisions will be made by the appointed award committee. At the end of the spring semester, a ceremony and small banquet will showcase the winning instructors.
The deadline for submissions is April 11, 2008.
Graduate student instructors are encouraged to save materials from this semester and next semester for the portfolio.
